I. Setting
The event at SERE will be taking place at the estate of one Nickodemus Diederich located in country side of Georgia. Everyone has come here for one of many reasons linked to items or references linking to the possibility of some lost reward of some sort (see plot kit Nickodemus’s coin). The estate it self covers over a dozen acres with a manor house and around a dozen other odd stone buildings. Most of the estate is over grown and in disrepair. There is a road side boarding house down the road from the estate (so even people not part of the original kit can get involved too).
II. Theme
The theme is about the darkness people will go to for power and greed. There should be an air of mistrust among the characters.
III. Mood
The mood is about exploring the unknown and the fear of places unseen. After all robbing a dead mans home no matter how long ago he died still is something not for the kind hearted. Characters with high mortality should be reminded that while they might have good reasons they are still doing something taboo.
IV. Player Information
Restrictions: All characters must be built using the most recently approved version of the Camarilla’s rules supplements. The VST reserves the right to deny any character from admission into the game due to it conflicting or detracting from the theme and mood of the venue.
Travel Information: Travel to the estate is easy and safe with the boarding house being the only place to stay within an hours drive.
Mass Destruction Effects: There will be no items of mass destruction checked in for game. Any attempt to create an effect of mass destruction will be denied by the VST.
Challenges: All challenges will follow the rules as clarified by the latest Camarilla rule supplements. Players are free to throw challenges with each other without the VST/Narrator, except for in the case of combats and/or in any situation that will result in the death of a character. The VST/Narrator must be present and give permission before any combat and/or any character death begins.
Use of Powers: The VST and any assigned narrators may be required to alter the effects of any supernatural power to assure the smooth flow of the game. As the World of Darkness defies the laws of physics, it is requested that the players work with the VST or narrators in such situations and realize that just because something worked in a particular way once, does not mean it will work that way every time.
Mass Combat: If any players argue with any of the narrators or the VST, or otherwise disrupt the flow of combat rounds with idle discussion, that player's character may be removed from the scene or game as the narrator or VST sees fit. The VST/Narrator’s main priority is to get through the entirety of the event with as few time consuming challenges as possible, and has little tolerance for disruption of game flow. The VST/Narrator reserves the right to script mass combat if it becomes disruptive to the flow of the game.
Player Advisory: The World of Darkness is not a happy place. The VST or narrators may use adult themes, vivid descriptions, controversial locations and contentious social issues to bring the World of Darkness to life. Such themes and issues may include racism, sexism, bigotry, prejudice, tragic events, sexual assault, extreme violence, and/or religion. If, at any time, a player feels uncomfortable with a scene or setting, the player should immediately inform the narrator running the scene or the VST. The VST will either tone down scene so that the player is once again comfortable participating in it, or will excuse the player from the scene and hand the PC to a narrator or other designated representative to finish out the scene without breaking continuity.
